This post has nothing to do with the game, I just wanted to test and show some of the image and media handling on the site.
The above are the 128x128 Discord server icons I made. Not particularly happy with the Farsight one yet, but it’s a start. They show the left and right layout options of the style sheet, and (just below here) demonstrate the clear shortcode to force the following content to clear the floated left/right images.
This is our background from our new guild banner. It was cropped from a screenshot taken while standing on a tall structure in Suramar City. I was trying to get a grand view of the city with Dalaran floating in the background, but couldn’t get just the shot I wanted. I’m sure I can get it just right once flying is released - though by that time, isn’t it almost too late to be relevant? Says something about the pacing of flying, imo. There are a few other pieces I’ve done for other guild/character purposes, such as this twitter banner: Our old guildlaunch logo graphic, with transparency (shown on a gradient background here, so you can see the white text). Guildlaunch would put that on top of one of its banner bg selections. For our twitch/youtube banners, I think I took a crop of the old banner background and put the text on myself.
At the time, I think I couldn’t find the right font, thus the font change in later images.
Also, this is an example of what happens by default when an image is included with basic markdown. The stylesheet limits it’s maximum width to the width of the column, but otherwise doesn’t resize it. Is the same image, but inserted with the Hugo figure shortcode with the classes “image fit” to make it fit its container.
I’m not a front end web person. Getting all this to look even as decent as it does has been challenging, but fun, if frustrating at times. It’s humbling, thus I thought I’d share the image I came across long ago that perfectly sums up the experience we sometimes have with technology and convincing things to work the way we want…
Finally, here’s a couple of button examples, that also happen to take you to tools used for this site.
